The situation arose and Angela Plowman Constantinidis invited the Honourable Maria Vamvakinou MP to the Eνωση Ελλήνων Αιγύπτου & Μέσης Ανατολής, Μελβούρνη της Αυστραλίας (EEAMA) for Foulia, Falafel and Molokhea night on the first Thursday on the month of November 2014.

This event is hosted on the first Thursday of every month at the ‘Star International Reception’ at 1C Bell Street, Preston, Melbourne.

The Honourable Maria Vamvakinou is a Federal Member for Calwell and a Co-Founder and Co Convenor of the Parliamentary Friends of Multiculturalism, a member of the joint committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade.

Maria attended the University of Melbourne where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education.  Was a high school teacher prior to entering politics.

Marias extensive involvement in the Local Community makes her a very popular People Person and even more popular with EEAMA’s gathering on that evening.

Ms Vamvakinou is the first Greek born woman to be elected to the Parliament of Australia.

Born on the Greek Island of Lefkada in 1959, Maria and her family migrated by boat to Australia in 1963 for a better life and greater prospects.

Maria loves Egypt and its culture, hence the invitation for dinner and ultimately an interview with me, Angela Plowman Constantinidis.  This interview will appear shortly at EEAMA’s website, in English and Greek.   http://www.eeama.org.au/

Also on the same evening Δρ Μιχάλης Μιχαήλ attended the event to enjoy this informal dinner.

Ο Δρ Μιχάλης Μιχαήλ, Senior Research Fellow και Αναπληρωτής Διευθυντής του Κέντρου του Διαλόγου στο Πανεπιστήμιο  La Trobe  της Μελβούρνης Αυστραλίας, proved to also be popular with EEAMA’s friends and members.
