[3] Alexander the Great died of illness in 323 BC. His descendants, were the Ptolemaic Dynasty, the most known of which was Egypt’s Queen Cleopatra.   For almost 300 years after the death Alexander the Great, the House of Ptolemy ruled Egypt (331 BC to 30 BC). The Greek and Roman influence (in particular during Julius Caesar’s regime) was of significant political, military and economic importance in that region.
